Athens Rides | Drivers Pool
This committee organizes safe, free transport for community members who need a ride. Folks in the community do not always have access to driver’s licenses, and driving without a license is a substantial risk. We need as many volunteer drivers as possible to serve this need.
¿Necesitas un Conductor?
Lo que necesitamos saber:
- ¿Quién vendra?
- ¿Cuál es la fecha del viaje?
- ¿Cómo podemos contactarte?
- ¿Dónde nos reuniremos?
- ¿Adónde necesitas ir?
- ¿A que hora necesitas llegar al destino?
- ¿Cuánto tiempo estarás allí?
Do You Need a Driver?
Here’s what we need to know:
- Who will be coming?
- What is the date of the ride?
- How can the primary rider be contacted?
- What is the pick up address?
- What is the destination address?
- What is the arrival time?
- How long will the appointment last?
What We Do
Do you want to stand up for immigrants in our community? Do you have a car? ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is attacking our communities by detaining and deporting friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. Immigrants do not always have access to driver’s licenses, making it difficult to do important things like meeting their lawyers and getting to doctor’s appointments. Athens Rides connect allies who have cars and a day off to folks who need support in the immigrant community. If you become an allied driver, you will be lending a hand, but more importantly you’ll be building community ties. By connecting with one another, we’ll all grow stronger. As part of the pool, we’ll tell you about community members who need a ride and the details of the trip. You will need to be able to answer communications promptly to confirm if you can take on a trip or not. If you’re available and want to take the trip on, that’s great! If not, that’s fine – we’ll just ask you the next time. All rides are completely optional.
